Azerbaijan expects growth in tourist flow from Russia
Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov.30
By Ilhama Isabalayeva - Trend:
Azerbaijan is interested in attracting more Russian tourists, the country's Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told reporters Nov.30.
"Russian market remains a priority for us," said the minister. "We believe that the number of Russian tourists [visiting Azerbaijan] will increase."
Garayev pointed out that the number of tourists traditionally visiting Turkey can significantly decrease after the deterioration of the relations between these countries and imposition of sanctions by Russia after Turkish Air Force shot down the Russian SU-24 bomber.
"I am confident that the politicians will resolve this issue and the process will be normalized. Nevertheless, we should also react to these processes," said the minister.
He noted that Azerbaijan Tourism Association has already carried out joint work with Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).
Moreover, Garayev said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will host a meeting with representatives of the tourism industry Nov.30 and new recommendations will be given to them.
