The Russian helicopter service center in Azerbaijan may become a regional hub for major repairs, Russian trade representative to Azerbaijan Ruslan Mirsayapov told Trend.
The work at the current facilities of the service center allows for the complete repair and maintenance of Mi-type helicopters, he said.
"With the creation of a helicopter service center, the competencies of Russian specialists in current work are also being used. The Azerbaijani side plans to implement the idea of turning it into a regional hub for the overhaul of helicopters in the future. Helicopters of neighboring countries can be involved here too," Mirsayapov said.
The Russian side continues to manufacture and supply the necessary equipment for the successful closing of the contract, he noted.
"According to the contract, the helicopter service center will be fully commissioned by 2023," he added.
The key customer of this service center is the Azerbaijani Silk Way West Airlines company. All investments in the project are made by the Azerbaijani side.
