BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Retail trade turnover n Azerbaijan increased by three percent from January through March 2023, compared to the same period year-on-year and reached 13 billion manat ($7.6 billion), Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products grew by 2.1 percent to 7.4 billion manat ($4.3 billion), while non-food products increased by 4.1 percent to 5.6 billion manat ($3.2 billion).

In the reporting period of 2023, the population spent 52.2 percent of funds on the purchase of food products, 4.9 percent - on beverages and tobacco products, 14.7 percent - on textiles, clothing and footwear, 5 percent - on car fuel, 4.5 percent - on electrical goods and furniture, 2.4 percent - on pharmaceutical goods and medicines, 1 percent - on computers, and 15.3 percent - on other non-food products.

During the accounting period, the cost of goods sold by economic entities of the non-state sector rose by 2.8 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year and amounted to 99.6 percent of the total retail trade turnover.

Moreover, in the above period of the current year, retail trade turnover in real terms grew by 1.1 percent for enterprises, by 3.5 percent for markets and fairs, and by 3.8 percent for individual entrepreneurs compared to the same period last year.

Overall, the average monthly turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan per capita reached 427.9 manat ($251.7), including the turnover of food, while beverages and tobacco products - 244.4 manat ($143.7), and non-food products - 183.5 manat ($107.9).
