BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. Azerbaijan exported hazelnuts worth $12.3 million from January through February 2024, Trend reports via the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of Azerbaijan.
The center's data shows that from January through February of this year, hazelnut exports in monetary terms increased by $0.8 million, or 6.96 percent, compared to the indicator of the same period in 2023 ($11.5 million).
The Center reports that by the end of 2023, Azerbaijan exported hazelnuts worth $108.4 million, which is 15.69 percent more than the figure of 2022 ($93.7 million).
Azerbaijan ranks 4th among the world's hazelnut producers, according to the International Nut & Dried Fruit Council's data for the 2022–2023 season.
In the reporting period, 24,000 tons of peeled hazelnuts were produced in Azerbaijan. The country's share in world production is four percent.
The leading three countries are Türkiye with 415,300 tons, constituting 71 percent, followed by Italy with 38,700 tons, accounting for 7 percent, and the US with 31,900 tons, representing 5 percent.
