By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

With the support of Georgian Partnership Fund (PF), USAID and Startup Georgia, the construction of a Kombucha natural drink production facility has begun in the village of Karapila, located in the Kaspi municipality of Georgia’s Shida Kartli region, Trend reports referring to PF.

Kombucha is fermented by combining tea and sugar with SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast). The combination of tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast embarks on a long fermentation process which results in a naturally sparkling and refreshing drink.

The construction works began on July 7, said PF.

The main properties of the kombucha drink are detoxification and increasing immunity, which is a response to one of the main challenges of the 21st century.

Partnership Fund's Executive Director Davit Saganelidze and US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Kombucha production facility in the village of Karapila.

The new joint initiative of Startup Georgia and USAID aims to enable the population of villages to embark on the innovative business and create more enterprises and jobs.
