Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 September / corr. Trend N. Ismayilova / Governments of Azerbaijan and the United States continue discussions on terms of conducting the second meeting of Azerbaijani-American intergovernmental commission on economic co-operation, Paul Davis, senior economist of Agency for International Development (USAID) said.
The meeting will be held in Washington. Date of the meeting has numerously delayed and last was scheduled for autumn.
"We are still unknown about the date of meeting, because negotiations with government are continued," Devis said.
According to results of the first meeting of the commission, held in Baku on February 7, memorandums on five projects were signed.
The commission aims at co-financing realization of social and economic projects by governments of Azerbaijan and USA.
The American-Azerbaijani relations are based on three important factors, one of which is provision of safety - activity and struggle against global terror. The second includes provision of safety in energy sphere and these issues will be considered during next meetings. Third factor includes economics and reforms in a sphere of democracy.
Discussions were focused on the third direction at the first meeting of commission.
The United States believes that development of commerce also remains important direction of common activities, but it will be continued in commercial direction, too.
Co-chairs of the commission are Samir Sharifov, Azerbaijani finance minister and Daniel Salivan, US deputy state secretary.
The USA occupies one of the leading positions in common investments in country's economics (20.7%).
Total volume of American investments in Azerbaijan made up $326.273mln in January to August 2008, and $653.726mln for 2007.
