Azerbaijan, Baku, June 24 / Trend , P.Aliyeva, U.Ismayilova/

The Culture and Tourism Department of the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry in the country's Yardimli region has submitted a proposal to the ministry to construct additional five tourist properties in the region, Head of the department Ayaz Aliyev said on June 24.

"ВThere are only two tourist facilities in the region with 46 places," Aliyev said.

These facilities are too few, regarding a tourist flow to the region, he said. A total of 600-700 tourists visited the Yardimli region per a year in 2005-2006 and this figure reached roughly 1,500 in 2008.

A tourist flow is expected to reach 2,000 and this fact has become the reason of our applying to the ministry to create tourist facilities, Aliyev said.

The Yardimli region has a potential to receive 2,000-3,000 tourists a year, he said. A two-place room in these tourist properties costs 50 manat per a day. But tourists prefer private houses in the villages, such as the Chayuzu, Perimbel, Alar and Peshteser. Stay in these houses costs 10-15 manat per day.

Averagely, each tourist's expense amounts to 45-50 manat per day in the Yardimli region, Aliyev said.

On June 24, the official exchange rate is 0.804 manat to $1.
