Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in constriction of the railway bridge over Amudarya River by Ukrainian company, official Turkmen source said.

The president noted importance of this strategic facility and urged to take immediate measures to complete bridge's construction.

The bridge which costs $123 million is constructed by Ukrtransstroy. The contract with Turkmenistan's railway transport ministry was signed in 1999.

In addition, local media reported that it was pointed out at the last Cabinet meeting that the speed of river must be reduced to install last support of transport and communication facilities.

Berdymuhammedov ordered the Ministry of Water Resources and other related agencies to immediately solve technical problems.

In early January 2009, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry handed a note to Kiev, which expressed concern about senior management because of the disruption of the timing of construction of a number of critical facilities conducted by Ukrainian companies. In addition to the bridge it was about engineering-communication tunnel, construction of which in 1999 was entrusted with the Ukrainian Interbudmontazh. Turkmen authorities have threatened to file for international arbitration court.
