Another Eurostar train broke down in the Channel Tunnel Thursday, just weeks after five trains all became stuck underground trapping more than 2,000 passengers, DPA reported.

Thursday's train was an early morning Brussels to London train, with around 240 passengers on board.

It was eventually towed to the English station of Ashford International by a locomotive, a company spokesman said.

Other services were temporarily disrupted by the breakdown, whose cause has yet to be established.

In December five trains in succession became stranded in the tunnel which links Britain and France. The problem was thought to be a temperature differential between deep snow drifts, and the 20- degree-centigrade-plus temperatures in the tunnel.

Britain was again blanketed by deep snow on Thursday, causing severe transport disruption, with many schools and offices closed.

December's shutdown caused by the multiple train failure cost several million euros in lost revenues, economists estimate.
