A positive trend of economic partnership between Belarus and Azerbaijan is to strengthen cooperative ties. The tasks are set to reach the volume of joint production worth $100 million and expand the range of products, the Belarusian embassy in Azerbaijan said.
"An indicator of the effectiveness of the joint work is the stable growth of bilateral trade. It was ensured in 2009. During the ten months of 2010 bilateral trade amounted to nearly $ 130 million or 23.3 percent more than during the same period last year, " a message said.
This figure was fixed at $ 10 million in 2003. The deliveries of Belarusian enterprises to Azerbaijan in January-October 2010 increased by 22.4 percent, exports of Azerbaijan to Belarus - by 56,1 percent.
The engineering products, timber, pharmaceuticals, household appliances, food products, construction materials are supplied from Belarus to Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan exports to Belarus petrochemical products, textiles, agricultural processing products: juices, nuts, raw tobacco.
At present, tractors, trucks, cranes, optical equipment, elevators are produced in Azerbaijan with the participation of leading Belarusian manufacturers.
"Implementing the projects on cooperation makes a significant contribution to such industries as automotive and agricultural machinery in Azerbaijan, providing a diversification of the economy, intensifying cooperation in the sphere of services," a message said.
The export growth of Belarusian services in Azerbaijan totaled 125.4 percent, Azerbaijani services - 221 percent during the ten months of 2010.
The presence of direct flights between Belarus and Azerbaijan promotes the development of relations in the field of health and education," a message said.
More than 3,000 Azerbaijani citizens were provided with medical services in Belarus in 2009-2010, including a number of high-tech operations. About 300 Azerbaijani citizens study in Belarus.
It was reported that constructive cooperation is also established in science and technology. The organizations of Azerbaijani and Belarusian Academies of Sciences carried out 18 joint research in physics, chemistry, economics, genetics and zoology. The effectiveness of cooperation in this area is confirmed by the practice.
