The trade turnover between Turkey and Iran increased by 96.79 percent and reached $10.686 billion in 2010, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported. In 2009, the trade turnover was $5.43 billion.
Turkey's exports to Iran increased by 50.3 percent and amounted to $3.042 billion in 2010. The figure was $2.024 billion in 2009.
Some 2.7 percent of the country's total exports in 2010 fell to Iran, while the figure was 2 percent in 2009.
Turkey's total exports amounted to $113.93 billion in 2010 compared to $102.143 billion in 2009.
In December 2010, Turkey's exports to Iran amounted to $375.293 million, which is 65.1 percent more than in December 2009, when it was at $227.348 million.
According to the Turkish Exporters' Council (TIM), in 2010, Turkey sold steel worth $669.462 million to Iran, chemicals - $521.616 million, equipment - $396.206 million, wood - $291.186 million, textile - $238.04 million, automobiles - $225.671 million and electricity - $ 171.414 million.
Turkey's import from Iran increased by 124.5 percent up to $7.644 billion in 2010. In 2009, the figure was $3.405 billion.
About 4.1 percent of Turkey's total imports fells to import from Iran, while the figure was 2.4 percent in 2009.
In 2010, Turkey's total imports amounted to $185.493 billion compared to $140.928 billion in 2009.
In December 2010, Turkey's imports from Iran amounted to $709.424 million, which is 152.3 percent more than in December 2009, when it was at $281.226 million.
Turkey's total imports in December amounted to $20.554 billion. About 3.5 percent of Turkey's total imports in December fell to imports from Iran compared to 1.9 percent in December 2009.
