Qatar and Georgia signed an air transport agreement. The agreement was signed for the Qatari side by Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority Abdul Aziz Al Noaimi and for the Georgian side by Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Vera Kobalia.
According to the agreement, Qatar Airways will operate later this year an air route between the two countries' capitals, Doha and Tbilisi.
A Georgian delegation including Minister Kobalia and Transport Administration Head Irakli Davitadze is on a visit to Qatar from Feb.13.
Following the signing ceremony, Kobalia said the establishment of air links between Tbilisi and Doha promotes business development between the two countries, as well as tourism.
Besides, she said, "Qatar Airways" can arrange in Tbilisi a regional hub, through which will operate flights to Europe and Asia.
"This is a very important agreement, which intensifies the relationship between our countries," she said.
