The total length roads built and repaired in Azerbaijan hit 175.7 kilometers in the first quarter, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said in an interview posted on the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
Mammadov said 93.5 kilometers built and repaired in the first quarter accounted for roads of national importance and 82.2 kilometers - local roads.
"During this period, six bridges were built and commissioned," Mammadov said.
Some 170 million manat will be allocated from the state budget to the targeted budgetary fund for highways for the maintenance of roads, which are in common use. Some 60 million manat of this amount has been already spent in January-March.
Also 24 million manat is expected to be allocated for the maintenance of highways in Baku this year, 4.5 million manat of which was utilized in the first quarter.
