Kazakhstan plans to double oilseed crops harvest in 2011 compared to the last year index, the spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture Eugene Aman said, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.

"We will collect a record oilseeds harvest - roughly 1.5 million tons," Aman said. "We will have an oilseed crops export potential of approximately 700,000-800,000 tons."

According to Aman, areas sawn under safflower and flax have been expanded.

"As to rape and sunflower, which are of high demand on the market, they will yield good crops like last year," he added.

Last year, Kazakhstan had 800,000 tons of oilseed crops harvest.
