Lars Oerman will be the new director of the regional office of the German Development Bank (KfW) for the South Caucasus and will assume office in August this year, Azersu said on Wednesday.
It was stated by Director General of KfW in Europe and Asia, Uwe Ohls at a meeting with representatives of national water operator in Azerbaijan.
He noted the acceleration of implementation of water projects in Azerbaijan over the last year.
"KfW will provide a loan until the end of the year to complete the second and third phase of II program open communal infrastructure, providing the restoration of water supply and sanitation in the cities of Ganja and Sheki," Ohls noted and said about the forthcoming visit of German experts to Azerbaijan.
President of Azersu Gorkhmaz Huseynov informed about the application of latest technologies in projects both through KfW credit, and funds of other international organizations.
The delegation also reviewed the implementation of the rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation in the cities of Ganja and Sheki, the construction of trunk water line Goygol - Ganja, restoring water source Gyzylgaya, as well as complex systems of rainwater, which was built in Sheki during the visit to azerbaijan.
The budget of the project's first stage is 55 million euro. In accordance with the records signed in Berlin in October, 2006, KfW allocated a 37 million euro loan, Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs allocated 10 million euro as a grant. The Azerbaijani government's share in the project is 8 million euro.
The first phase of the project envisages measures to provide water to Sheki at 100 percent and Ganja - at 50 percent. Further development of water supply system of Ganja is provided in the frame of the second phase.
