Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 21 / Trend J. Nasibova /

There is an acute shortage of agriculture specialists in Azerbaijan, Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov told media on Saturday.

Despite the great need for agriculture specialists, the youth shows little interest in this sphere, he added.

"The students receiving education at universities of Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands and other countries within the state program are showing more interest in economic sciences, as well as the tourism sector and communications," he said. "They are less interested in agriculture."

Today, around 1,200 Azerbaijani students studying in over 200 universities worldwide get higher education abroad within the state program in 2007-2015.
