The Kazakh-Kyrgyz trade turnover is growing, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Kazakhstan Esengul Omuraliev said in an interview on the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He said that the trade turnover reached $676 million for the first 8 months of this year.

"I think that we will reach $800-850 million by late 2012," he said. "Next year we face the task to reach the level of $1 billion. I think it is possible and there are opportunities for this."

He added that the promising areas of cooperation are trade, hydropower, tourism, expansion and promotion of direct relations between enterprises, simplification of customs and border clearance, effective use of existing transit and transportation routes.

There are 275 enterprises with Kazakh capital in Kyrgyzstan and 127 enterprises with Kyrgyz capital in Kazakhstan.
