Iran will establish a workgroup to control and set the real prices of petrochemical raw materials, Iranian Oil minister said on Sunday at the sidelines of IranPlast 2012 exhibition.

The workgroup will announce the initial results by Friday, the Fars IRNA News Agency quoted Rostam Qasemi as saying.

"Iran's installed petrochemical production capacity will reach 100 million tons by the end of the fifth five-year economic development plan (2015)," Qasemi said, the IRNA News Agency reported.

The country's installed petrochemical output capacity is currently about 55 million tons.

The managing director of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran Abdolhossein Bayat said in August that the Petrochemical exports from Iran to Asian markets have been rising due to the increasing demand as well as lower transportation costs compared to other destinations.

Bayat told the Mehr News Agency that despite global sanctions, petrochemical exports to Asian markets have increased by 30 percent in weight and 10 percent in value in the current year.

He added that the national petrochemical output is projected to be boosted by 5-5.5 million by the end of the current year.

The 8th edition of the IranPlast exhibition kicked off on Sunday at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds with representatives from 20 countries in attendance.

Over 400 domestic and 100 foreign companies have taken part in theexhibition. China, Turkey, Taiwan, India, Germany, Austria, and Italy are among the participants.

The event will run for three days.
