A new head has been appointed to the National Wine Agency (formerly Samtrest) of Georgia. As the Agriculture Ministry told Trend, the new agency head is Levan Davitashvili.
First Deputy Minister David Shervashidze introduced the new agency head to the staff.
Levan Davitashvili earlier worked in the private sector of wine-making, as well as in international organisations.
'Georgian Agriculture Minister David Kirvalidze met with the newly appointed head of the National Wine Agency Levan Davitashvili on Tuesday and discussed the main direction of the body, issues of competitiveness, the quality of Georgian wine and prospects of mastering new markets', the report says.
Recently, commenting on the planned resumption of Georgian wine exports to Russia, Kirvalidze said that now the wine is high quality and "it is impossible that Georgian wine exported to the EU, did not meet the Russian standards."
