EBRD to allocate loan for reconstruction of Astana airport

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will allocate 8.5 billion Kazakh tenge (185.95 tenge = $1) for reconstruction of the runway and aerodrome pavement of Astana airport, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) company said.

The corresponding loan agreement was signed between EBRD and Astana International Airport, said the message from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.

EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti, chairman of the Board of "International Airport Astana" JSC Kairat Zhaukhanov and Vice-President of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Bauyrzhan Urynbasarov attended the signing ceremony.

The loan agreement was signed for 15 years, which includes a grace period of three years.
The project is being implemented as part of the state program of infrastructure development ("Nurly Jol").

Since the beginning its operation in Kazakhstan 22 years ago, EBRD has invested over $7 billion and half of the bank's projects were aimed at supporting the private sector.
