GM Uzbekistan's car sales in Russia drop

GM Uzbekistan, the former UzDaewooAuto, sold 17,119 cars in Russia from Jan.-Oct. 2015, or 49 percent less than the same period in 2014, the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the European Business Association said.

Russia is the main export market of GM Uzbekistan.

GM Uzbekistan sold 1,621 cars in Russia in October, or 11 percent less compared to October 2014.

The share of GM Uzbekistan in Russian market was 1.3 percent from January-October 2015, compared to 1.7 percent in the same period in 2014.

None of the car models manufactured by GM Uzbekistan was in the top 25 most sold in the reporting period. In general, it ranked 19th in terms of car sales in Russia.

Currently, GM Uzbekistan produces cars under ten brands: of them, five are sedans - Nexia, Cobalt, Lacetti, and Malibu, two subcompact models - Matiz and Spark, the Captiva SUV, the Orlando minivan, the Damas minivan and the Labo mini-truck.

Earlier, GM Uzbekistan said that it plans before late 2015 to carry out rebranding and to start production of the exported vehicles under a new brand name - Ravon instead of the old Daewoo.
