Azerbaijan plans to start exporting persimmon to Qatar in 2019, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association Gadir Yusifov told Trend.

He said that samples of these products were sent to Qatar this year.

“In parallel, we plan to increase the export of persimmon to Dubai (UAE),” he noted. “The export of persimmon to Arab countries began in 2017, but the volumes were small. In the future, we intend to increase supplies not only to Arab countries, but also to Russia, which is the main market for persimmon sale.”

He added that Belarus and Ukraine are also permanent markets for the sale of this type of fruit.

“Last year, over 200,000 tons of persimmon were harvested in Azerbaijan, and about 130,000 tons of it was exported,” he said. “This year’s crop may exceed 150,000 tons.”
