The Azerbaijani company Tabaterra intends to cover 80 percent of the demand for tobacco products in the country, the company told Trend Dec. 18.

There are plans to install five production lines with an annual production capacity of 11 billion cigarettes at the plant, according to the company. At the same time, the company added that the annual demand in Azerbaijan amounts to 14 billion cigarettes.

The bulk of raw materials that are used in production accounts for imported products, but at the same time, the company is taking steps to localize the purchase of raw materials.

"The plant, created on the basis of technologies of the UK, Germany and Italy, will produce cigarettes with a high-quality filter in three different formats that fully meet international standards," the company said. "The plant produces cigarettes under the Argo, Kingston and Senate brands."

"The products under the Argo brand have already been presented to consumers," the company noted. "It is also expected that the products under the Kingston and Senate brands will be presented in the near future. In addition, the company is planning to produce cigarettes of such biggest manufacturers as the British American Tobacco, Japan Tobacco International and Imperial Tobacco."

On the company’s goals for the future, Tabaterra noted that along with the work in the domestic market, export opportunities are also being explored.

"The first step we will take in this direction is to ensure the presence of the company’s products in Azerbaijan’s trade houses operating in other countries," the company said.

Tabaterra, a manufacturer of tobacco products, opened its first plant in November this year in Azerbaijan’s Sumgait city.
