Iran exports dates to over 70 countries

In the current Iranian year (started in March 21), Iran exported mazafati (Bam) dates to 78 countries, The General Director of Tropical and Subtropical Fruits Department of Agriculture Ministry, Masoud Latifian, said, Trends reports via Iranian media.

The date exports of the country reached $32 million in terms of value.

India has bought Iranian dates worth over $11 million and therefore is the main buyer, Latifian said.

In the first six months of the current Iranian year, the country exported 5,391 tons of Shahani dates worth almost $3.430 million, and 6,651 tons of Zahidi dates worth slightly over $4.473 million, he said.

During the reported period, according to the statistics of Iran Customs Administration's, the country exported Astamaran dates worth over $2.743, 2,569 tons of Kabkab dates worth over $1.8 million and 529 tons of Piarom dates worth almost $1.615 million, Latifian said.

Moreover, exports of other types of Iranian dates amounted to 38,406 tons in terms of weight, and almost $37.173 million in terms value, he added.

Piarom dates are the most expensive Iranian export dates, Latifian noted, adding that the price of these dates start from 120,000 rials (roughly $2.85).

One of the main problems of Iran's date exports is the marketing expenses, he added.
