Iran's North Savadkuh county harvests 450 tons of kiwi fruit

In the current Iranian year (started March 21) 450 tons of kiwi were harvested from the orchards of North Savadkuh county in Iran's Mazandaran province, head of Noth Savadkuh Agricultural Jihad Organization Ghasem Hikmatshuar said, Trend reports via Iranian media.

He noted that 103 tons of the kiwi output have been sent to the county's storage refrigerators and the rest have been supplied to markets.

All the necessary work to maintain the orchards' fertility are currently being carried out in the county, he added.

Last Iranian year 50 hectares of new orchards were established in the mountainous areas of North Savadkuh, Hikmatshuar said, adding that pomegranates, persimmons, cherry plums, pears and medlar trees have been planted throughout the new orchards.

North Savadkuh county has 4,500 hectares of fields and orchards. The main income source for the county's population is agriculture.
