In January 2019, Turkey exported 318,000 tons of tea to 42 countries, which is 167,000 tons more compared to January 2018, Trend reports referring to the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association of Turkey.
Turkey’s revenues from tea exports in January 2019 amounted to $773,000, while in January 2018, the country's income from tea exports amounted to only $382,000.
In January 2019, Turkey mainly exported tea to Germany and France.
Turkey's tea exports to Germany and France, in January 2019, amounted to $274,000 and $165,000, respectively.
The remaining $334,000 fall to the share of other countries.
In 2018, the Turkish state-owned company CAYKUR and private companies purchased almost 1.746 million tons of tea leaves from producers in the Eastern Black Sea region of the country, and the amount of processed tea reached 295,000 tons.
