Azerbaijan’s METAK company plans to increase processing volumes as part of the Green METAK program, company CEO Aydin Karimov told Trend.

"METAK has been processing non-ferrous metals since 1999, and plastic and paper since 2016, so now we want to strengthen in these positions," Karimov said.

The CEO further noted that the dynamics of sales of METAK is steadily increasing. According to him, this year, in addition to import of steel pipes, the company started production of electric welded pipes and significantly expanded the range of fittings with brass inserts.

Another innovation, he said, was the agreement with local manufacturers for cooperation in the production of rebars and gate valves. “Thus, we will offer the consumers a selection of not only imported products, but also locally produced goods. Considering the above, at the moment we are more interested in expanding sales, not the production,” he added.

Karimov also noted that the length of the plastic pipe produced by the company in the past year alone was 160 percent of the length of the Earth’s equator (40,000 kilometers).

METAK was established in 1997. The company has plants in Balakhani, Neftchala and Sumgayit in Azerbaijan. The main products manufactured at the company's plants are steel and plastic pipes, plastic boxes and containers, and products for intensive gardening and agriculture.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, the production of polyethylene pipes and hoses in the country in January-March 2019 amounted to 1,552 tons. In this period, 608.1 tons of polypropylene pipes and hoses, and 188.6 tons of plastic pipes were also produced.
