Potential of Iran’s power plants reaches 80,500 MWs

Production capacity of Iranian electric, as well as heat, renewable energy and several minor power stations has reached 80,500 megawatts in the middle of the second month this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Trend reports with reference to the website of Iran’s Energy Ministry.

The potential of combined cycle power plants has reached 25,083 megawatts, which accounts for 31.2 percent of the total number of installed stations in Iran.

Presently, 29.9 percent of Iran’s power plants with 24,077 megawatts account for gas stations, while steam power stations with 15,829 megawatts account for 19.7 percent.

The capacity of hydroelectric power plants has reached 11,938 megawatts, with a share of 14.8 percent in all production potential.

The potential of minor electricity generation plants in Iran is 1,417 megawatts, while the potential of nuclear power plants has reached 1,020 megawatts (in total about 1.5 percent of the total production potential in Iran).

The production capacity of renewable energy stations installed in Iran is about 706 megawatts. Production capacity of diesel fuel stations has reached 439 megawatts.
