Major Azerbaijani bank significantly increases total capital

Azerbaijan’s Kapital Bank increased its total capital by 33.1 percent in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the bank’s financial report.

As of late June, the bank's assets amounted to 329.092 million manats (after tax deduction), which is almost 81.797 percent higher than last year's figure. The share capital increased by 21.5 percent over the reporting period, reaching 225.85 million manats, the report said.

Total assets for the first half of the year increased by 2.5 percent, amounting to 3.663 billion manats. In the asset structure, the bank's cash funds and cash equivalents increased by 2.7 percent to 437.153 million manats. The total balances of correspondent accounts decreased by almost 2.2 percent to 321.92 million manats.

The volume of deposits in other banks and financial institutions decreased by 34.5 percent, making up 417.114 million manats. During the reporting period, the bank launched reverse repos in the amount of 16.576 million manats, which was not observed last year. Investment in securities also had a significant increase of 71 percent, reaching 698.324 million manats.

The loan portfolio amounted to 1.406 billion manats (after the deduction of target reserves), which is 26.2 percent more than last year. Fixed assets increased by 5.9 percent, reaching 42.613 million manats.

In addition, the bank increased its share in other joint-stock companies by 16.3 percent to 5.57 million manats. Intangible assets increased by 15.5 percent after depreciation, amounting to 20.289 million manats.

The total liabilities of the bank decreased by 7.7 percent during the reporting period, reaching 3.299 billion manats. In the structure of liabilities, the deposit portfolio (with the exception of banks and other financial institutions) increased by 1.5 percent, reaching 2.865 billion manats. The balances on loro accounts increased significantly by 12.5 times to 13.83 million manats.

The bank's liabilities to other banks and financial institutions in the form of deposits decreased by 2.4 times to 82.496 million manats during the reporting period. At the same time, the bank increased the debt on loans taken from other financial institutions by 10.4 percent to 79.342 million manats.
