Consumer Price Index down in Georgia

The Consumer Price Index decreased by 0.02 percent in July 2019 compared to the previous month in Georgia, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

The annual inflation rate amounted to 4.6 percent.

In July 2019 the monthly inflation rate (without tobacco) amounted to 0.4 percent, while the prices increased by 3.9 percent compared to the same month of 2018.

According to National Statistics Office of Georgia, with regard to the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 3.4 percent, while the rate of annual core inflation (without tobacco) amounted to 1.9 percent.

Prices for foodstuffs and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.2 percent in June, prices for sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery increased by 4.3 percent, the price of milk, cheese and eggs increased by 3.1 percent, fish prices increased by 1.9 percent, the price of meat increased by 1 percent. Meanwhile, prices on vegetables fell by 8.1 percent.

Foodstuffs and non-alcoholic beverages grew by 7.9 percent year-on-year, alcoholic drinks and tobacco products - 13.7 percent, transportation costs - 3.9 percent, recreation costs - 5.6 percent, medical services - 3.5 percent.

In the transport sector, prices increased by 1.8 percent, reflecting a general inflation rate of 0.22 percentage points.

In the health sector, prices rose by 3.5 percent, reflecting an increase in the overall index of 0.29 percentage points.
