By Eldar Janashvili – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Azergold CJSC plans to conduct extensive geological exploration and appraisal work at the Filizchay, Aghyokhush, Tulallar and Chovdar precious metals deposits during the second half of 2019, including drilling operations with a total length of 40,000 meters, the gold mining company’s press service told Trend.

At present, one of the priority tasks of the company is to confirm the resources of the Tulallar and Aghyokhush deposits located next to the Chovdar field and the presence of industrially significant and cost-effective reserves for the development of these reserves. An estimate of the reserves of deep-lying gold-bearing horizons of the Chovdar field is also of interest.

The indicated deposits are located next to the Chovdar mining and processing plant. This is beneficial not only from the point of view of gaining access to an additional source of raw materials for the enterprise to ensure its long-term activity, but also as a factor in reducing the cost of production of precious metals.

Geological explorations are conducted for the purpose of discovering gold, copper, silver, zinc and lead.

A preliminary feasibility study document for the Filizchay field has also been prepared. The preparation of the final feasibility study on it will be launched based on the results of the geological exploration works.

Drilling exploration work with a total penetration of up to 17,000 meters was carried out in 2018. Laboratory, geotechnical, and hydrological studies were carried out for the presence of underground (sulfide) ore deposits in the Chovdar, Aghyokhush, Tulallar and Ortakand-Khanagha (Nakhchivan) deposits.
