The Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) will provide the Esfahan Steel Company with 1.7 million tons of iron ore this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), Khudadad Qaribpur, chairman of IMIDRO and Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, told reporters in Tehran.

Qaribpur made the remarks at the 15th International Exhibition of Mines, Mining, Construction Machinery and Related Industry and Equipment in Tehran, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

“Some iron ore required by the company is expected to be provided by the Markazi Iron Ore Company operating under the Iranian Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare,” deputy minister added.

Qaribpur added that IMIDRO is trying to support the Esfahan Steel Company to continue production.

“IMIDRO ensures 40 percent of the iron ore required by the company,” Mansur Yazdizadeh, executive director of the Esfahan Steel Company, participating in the exhibition, said.

The executive director added that it is unclear how the company will ensure the remaining 60 percent.

Yazdizadeh added that the problem with iron ore supply of such big steel-making companies as Esfahan Steel Company and Mobarakeh Steel Company will also negatively impact small enterprises.

The exhibition kicked off on October 31 and will last until November 3.
