Uzbekistan will start exporting pomegranates to China, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The corresponding agreement was signed during the official visit of the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang to Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan’s Uzdavkarantin State Inspectorate stated that during the visit of Li Keqiang, agreements were also reached on the export of fruits by road from Uzbekistan through third countries to China.
Uzbek entrepreneurs will be able to export fruits by road to China through Kazakhstan through the border checkpoints of Khargos and Alashankou, as well as through the border points of Irkeshtam and Turgart in Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, China imports cherries, melons, hot peppers, pomegranates, mung beans, peeled nuts, sweet and bitter almonds, grape seeds, sesame seeds, raisins and dried apricots from Uzbekistan.
Negotiations are also underway to issue permits for the export of grapes, lemons, persimmons, apples, figs, plums, peaches, watermelons, onions, beans, peanuts and dried hot peppers.
Li Keqiang visited Uzbekistan from Nov. 1-2 to attend the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tashkent.
