Iran exported products worth $16 million to the member states of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) within 23 days, since a temporary trade memorandum was launched between Iran and EAEU on October 27, Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ali Akbar Mehrfard said.
Mehrfard made the remark at a meeting of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Trend reports referring to IRIB.
The temporary memorandum provides for preferential tariffs in trade between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union, the deputy minister said.
Mehrfard added that the officials must check and report whether Iranian exporters have benefited from the preferences offered by the memorandum.
The deputy minister said that the Iranian side is applying discounts to the member-states of EAEU.
"If it is revealed that the Eurasian Economic Union is not fulfilling its obligations, the Iranian side should also suspend its commitment to provide the benefits," Mehrfard said.
In accordance with the memorandum, 862 kinds of products will be imported and exported upon the preferential tariffs between the two parties. As agreed, Iran will export 502 kinds of products and import 360 kinds of products.
Iran will mainly export pistachios, kiwi, oil products, raisins, cucumbers, cabbages, persimmons, medicines, cement, copper and methanol. The country will mainly import barley, animal feed, oil, cathode and wood from the EAEU member states.
