Sponge iron production up at Iran's Sefid Dasht Steel Company

In the ninth month of the current Iranian year (from Nov. 22 to Dec. 21, 2019), Iran's Sefid Dasht Steel Company, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, produced over 65,000 tons of sponge iron (direct reduced iron), Trend reports referring to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

In the first nine months (from March 21 to Dec. 21, 2019) of the current Iranian year, the company produced 550,000 tons of sponge iron.

According to IMIDRO, the figure of the current year's nine-month period is similar to the last year's.

The company has planned to produce 190,000 tons of sponge iron In the winter season, thus to bring the output to 740,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian year (by March 21, 2020).

The first phase of Sefid Dasht Steel Company was put into operation in 2016 by IMIDRO and Mobarakeh Steel Company. Currently, the second phase of the company is under construction and is complete by 79 percent.
