Kazakhstan leads by EBRD investments attracted in Central Asia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 18

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested over 685.4 million euro to support projects in Kazakhstan in 2019, Trend reports with reference to EBRD.

Thus, Kazakhstan leads among Central Asian countries by the value of investments attracted from EBRD, as well as by the number of projects supported in the region.

The value of EBRD investments in 2019 is 45.2 percent more than in 2018 (471.9 million euro).

The bank supported 29 projects in Kazakhstan in 2019, which is three projects more than in 2018 (26 projects).

Last yer, EBRD supported construction of new 10 MW solar plant in the Zhanakorgan District in southern Kazakhstan; roadmap for safety of raw milk and dairy products; construction of 30MWp solar power plant in Zhangiz-tobe and other projects inthe country.

The Bank is the largest international investor in the country’s economy outside of the oil and gas sectors and has a wide presence in Kazakhstan, with two Resident Offices in Nur-Sultan and Almaty as well as five local offices for outreach in remote areas of the country.
