By investing in purchase of real estate in foreign countries doesn't bring much of profit to Iran, economist Fariborz Raes Dana told Trend in an interview.

"Purchasing houses in the neighboring countries is one of the ways to transfer capital out of Iran. There are few wealthy Iranian individuals that can afford to buy expensive properties in Europe or the US, while the rest prefer to buy real estate in neighboring countries," he said.

Dana said that such people, who purchase real estate in foreign countries think such purchases would be profitable.

"They're wrong, since tax systems in such countries are quite strict," he said.

Along with that, there's no guarantee that the money used to purchase real estate there would have the same value in the future, Dana said.

The Head of Tehran Real Estate Consultants Union has previously announced that Iranians have bought 8,000 residential units in Izmir, Turkey, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (began March 21,2019).

In addition to Turkey, Iranians have also bought more land in Georgia and Dubai.
