Agricultural production grows in Azerbaijan

The agricultural production volume in actual prices amounted to 656.4 million manat ($386.1 million) in Azerbaijan from January through February 2020, which is by 3.6 percent more than from January through February 2019, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s report.

Cultivation is carried out in the fields, orchards and vineyards alongside preparatory activities for planting summer crops are underway.

The crop production increased by 12.7 percent (up to 27.4 million manat that’s $16.1 million), while livestock production – 7.5 percent (629 million manat that’s $370 million) in the reporting period.

So, 82,900 tons of meat, 315,700 tons of milk, 315.7 million pieces of eggs and 31,600 tons of vegetables were produced in the country from January through February 2020.

Meat production increased by 3 percent, milk production - by 1.6 percent, egg production - by 11.6 percent and vegetables – by 15.7 percent from January through February 2020 compared to the period from January through February 2019.

Timely zootechnical and veterinary measures, as well as the work in the direction of improving the productive qualities of livestock, had a positive impact on the dynamic development of animal husbandry.
