Chevrolet cars manufacturing launched in Kazakhstan

The manufacturing of Chevrolet cars was launched in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay city at SaryarkaAutoProm plant, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Association of Automobile Business.

The project was implemented within the framework of joint venture between Allure Group of Companies (Kazakhstan) and UzAutoSanoat (Uzbekistan) established as a result of an agreement signed on Feb. 26, 2020.

Manufacturing’s capacity will be 26,000 vehicles a year at Phase 1 and is expected to play a significant role in Kazakhstan’s automobile industry development. Some 1,000 new jobs will be created.

The project is export oriented, manufactured vehicles will be exported to foreign markets. Some 13,000 cars are to be exported this year.

General Motors company and UzAuto Motors reached agreements to manufacture cars such as Chevrolet Cobalt and Malibu passenger cars, as well as Damas and Labo commercial cars at the Saryarkaautoprom plant.

Manufacturing will be carried out in accordance to the international standards, set by General Motors company. In the future the parties are planning to add Tracker and Trailblazer model cars to the list of Chevrolet cars manufactured in Kazakhstan.

Share of cars of Kazakh manufacturing sold on the country’s local market increased to 60 percent, and four out of five of most sold cars brands sold in Kazakhstan are also of local manufacturing.
