Volume of loaded and unloaded cargo decreases in Iran's ports

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo reached 9.25 million tons at ports of Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year to date (from March 20, 2020 through April 23, 2020), Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, the volume of loaded and unloaded cargo decreased by 34.2 percent in the current Iranian year compared to the same period of last Iranian year, when about 14.6 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded in the country's ports.

The cargoes were loaded and unloaded at Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr ports.

As many as 3.12 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded during this period. This is a decrease of 24.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (4.11 million tons).

TEU container cargo amounted to 0.11 million tons, showing a decrease of 35 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (0.17 million tons).

The volume of other container cargo amounted to 1.21 million tons. This is a decrease of 42.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (2.11 million tons).

The volume of general cargo was 0.87 million tons, which is a decrease of 50.1 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (1.74 million tons).

The volume of dry products in bulk amounted to 3.84 million tons, having decreased by 32.5 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (5.69 million tons).

The volume of liquid products loaded and unloaded in bulk was 0.23 million tons. This is a decrease of 45 percent compared to the same period last year (0.41 million tons).
