Review of Georgian export to China in January through June 2020

Georgia exported 113,995 tons of copper ores to China worth $167.08 million from January through June 2020, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the reporting period, Georgia exported 1,772 tons of fresh grapes worth $6.7 million to China.

Meanwhile, 12 tons of instruments and appliances used in medicine worth $3.6 million were exported from Georgia to China. This is 23.2 tons less compared to January-June 2019.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported 1,083 tons of ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spices in the amount of $2.5 million to China.

During the period of January through June 2019, export of spices from Georgia to China amounted to 780 tons totaling $1.4 million.

Georgia also exported 7,628 tons precious metal ores and concentrates worth $16.7 million to China.

From January through June 2020, the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and China amounted to more than $530.7 million, which is 10.5 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $205.1 million to the Chinese market, which is 13.6 percent of total exports from Georgia.

Meanwhile, China exported products worth $325.6 million to the Georgian market, which comprises 9.2 percent of total import to Georgia.
