New equipment to be delivered to Iran’s Chabahar port

Several mobile harbor cranes will be delivered to Iran's Chabahar port in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020), said Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Rastad, Trend reports citing the PMO.

The chairman emphasized that these cranes will be delivered in cooperation with the India Ports Global Limited (IPGL). Indian Ports Global Ltd. - India (IPGL) has been entrusted by Government of India to carry out the task of equipping and operating Container& Multipurpose Terminal at Chabahar Port in Iran.

Rastad added that as the Chabahar port is not subject to US sanctions against Iran, the IPGL has activated the supply process at the port.

The IPGL continues to produce port equipment under a temporary operator contract for the present.

"The IPGL is investing $85 million under a contract with Iran. The main contract will be active in Chabahar port after the equipment is provided,” he said.

The deputy minister noted that the grain lifting sucker machine, cranes, gantry cranes were brought to Chabahar port in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

At present, the India Ports Global Limited (IPGL) is working as an operator company in the Chabahar port.
