TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.1
Trend:
Iran's daily energy consumption currently stands at 6.3 million barrels of crude oil per day and by reducing consumption to 50 percent the country could save energy up to $7 billion, said the Managing Director of the Iranian Fuel Conservation Company Ali Mobini Dehkordi, Trend reports via IRNA.
"There are big capacities to allocate financial resources by better energy consumption and preventing energy waste," said Dehkordi.
"There should be specific plans for better consumption, considering the effect of the coronavirus spread and sanctions," he said.
"The energy consumption in Iran is high level and it is necessary to optimize the energy market and the government should be the regulator," said Dehkordi.
"The optimal energy consumption in the current situation is 3.5 million barrels of crude oil per day, that would help save energy," he said.
"The energy supply in Iran had a 3-percent growth annually in the past decade, and considering the GDP the consumption level has increased, meanwhile the global energy consumption has declined," Dehkordi added.
