Iran, Afghanistan look to boost cooperation in customs, energy spheres

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 9

Iranian Minister and the Chairman of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan Reza Ardakanian met Deborah Lyons, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan and the head of UNAMA (United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan), Trend reports citing IRNA.

Ardakanian mentioned the capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the possibility of cooperation with the United Nations to help the development of Afghanistan during the meeting with Lyons.

Ardakanian emphasized on the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy and customs.

Referring to the role of UNAMA, Deborah Lyons also expressed readiness to facilitate the joint cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided to continue the necessary coordination between the two sides through the Center for International Affairs of the Ministry of Energy, in order to accelerate the process of cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and UNAMA.
