Iron ore concentrate production of giant Iranian steel companies grows

The iron ore concentrate production of nine giant Iranian steel companies increased by 4 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

During the reporting period, these companies produced 28.8 million tons of iron ore concentrate. This figure was 27.6 million tons in the same period last Iranian year, according to the report.

“Thus, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company produced 9.56 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company - 6.48 million tons, Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO) - 3.8 million tons, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company - 2.62 million tons, Central Iron Ore Company of Iran - 2.43 million tons,” the report said.

In addition, Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company produced 1.46 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Opal Parsian Sangan Industrial and Mining Company - 1.34 million tons, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company - 850,000 tons and Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex – 247,000 tons over 7 months of the current Iranian year, the report said.

According to the report, these companies produced 4.2 million tons of iron ore concentrate in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 22 through October 21, 2020). This is an increase of 8.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 3.87 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced in the same period last Iranian year.

“At the same time, these companies transported 10.4 million tons of iron ore concentrate to the relevant manufacturing companies in seven months. This is a decrease of 11 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, this figure amounted to 11.8 million tons in the same period last Iranian year,” the report said.

Furthermore, the companies transported 1.55 million tons of iron ore concentrate to the relevant manufacturing companies in the 7th month, which is a decrease of 9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year (1.71 million tons), the report said.
