Uzbekistan and Germany discussed the importance of continuing joint work on the draft Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation with the EU, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The 16th round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany in the format of a video conference on December 1, 2020.

The delegations of the parties were headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Michael Siebert.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for expanding bilateral multifaceted cooperation and considered the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming joint events.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in trade, economic, financial, technical, and investment spheres. The progress in the implementation of the agreements reached as a result of mutual visits at the highest level in 2019 was analyzed in detail by the sides.

In addition, the representatives of the ministries discussed the importance of obtaining Uzbekistan's beneficiary status within the General System of Preferences Plus (GSP +).
