Iran attaches great importance to relations with Georgia, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi told Trend.

According to him, recently, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamed Javad Zarif also visited Georgia during his visit to the region.

"During the coronavirus pandemic, a number of problems with the transit of Iranian products have arisen. But in recent weeks, these problems have been eliminated. Currently, Iranian trucks can enter Georgia through Azerbaijan," the ambassador said.

In early February, during negotiations and consultations between Iran and Georgia, Iranian trucks were allowed to enter Georgia.

According to the statistics of the Iranian Trade Development Organization, the trade turnover between Iran and Georgia for 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 - January 19, 2021) amounted to 179,000 tons worth $115 million.

During this period, Iran exported 112,000 tons of goods worth $39.3 million to Georgia and imported 66,000 tons of goods from Georgia for $75.9 million.

Iran mainly exports various metals (steel and cast iron shafts), building materials, petrochemicals and agricultural products to Georgia, and also imports timber, manganese and other goods from Georgia.
