Iron ore concentrate production by major Iranian companies increases

The iron ore concentrate production of ten major Iranian companies increased by 5 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021) compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Over the last Iranian year, these companies produced 49.7 million tons of iron ore concentrate. This figure was 47.3 million tons in the preceding Iranian year, according to the report.

"So, the Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company produced 16.3 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company – 11.4 million tons, Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO) – 6.26 million tons, Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company – 4.49 million tons, Central Iron Ore Company of Iran – 4.22 million tons," the report said.

In addition, Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company produced 2.51 million tons of iron ore concentrate, Opal Parsian Sangan Industrial and Mining Company – 2.37 million tons, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company – 1.43 million tons, Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex – 398,000 tons, and Sangan Mining Industries Company – 265,000 tons within the last Iranian year, the report said.

According to the report, at the same time, these companies transported 18.7 million tons of iron ore concentrate to the relevant manufacturing companies in the last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 8 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. So, this figure amounted to 20.2 million tons in the preceding Iranian year.

“The production of these companies amounted to 3.53 million tons in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 19 through March 18, 2021). This is a decrease of 5 percent compared to the same month preceding the Iranian year. While in the same month preceding Iranian year, 3.73 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced,” the report said.

Furthermore, 1.47 million tons of iron ore concentrate were transported to the relevant manufacturing companies in the 12th month. This is a decrease of 17 percent compared to the same month preceding the Iranian year. So, 1.76 million tons of iron ore concentrate were transported in the same month preceding Iranian year, the report said.

Within the last Iranian year, the 10 companies produced 902,000 tons of iron ore pellets. This is a 54-percent decrease compared to the same period preceding the Iranian year. Thus, 1.96 million tons of iron ore pellets were produced in the same period preceding the Iranian year, according to the report.
