Kazakhstan resumes supplies of scrap metal to Russia

Kazakhstan has resumed supplies of scrap metal to Russia, Iya Malkina, Assistant Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) Board said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

“To date, the issue has already been resolved. Scrap metal supplies from Kazakhstan to Russia have resumed. The information at the disposal of the commission said that about 60,000 tons of scrap metal were shipped to Russia in March 2021," she said.

In Oct. 2020, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development is looking to extend the prohibition on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals

The draft of the corresponding decree was submitted for public discussions which will be held until Oct. 23, 2020.

The decree said that the export ban is to be extended for a period of 2 years and covers export via road transport. The prohibited goods list includes scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as pipes, rails, elements of railway tracks, and rolling stock that was in use.
