Iran and Russia's trade situation has changed much, said the head of Iran and Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce.
"While borders of other countries were closed due to Coronavirus outbreak, the border with Russia was open and there were import and export," Hadi Tizhoush Taban told Trend in an interview.
"Necessary infrastructures for land, air, and other transportation are not available and our trade volume would not increase significantly until these infrastructures are provided," he noted.
Generally, Iran's export to Russia has increased 20 percent compared to previous years.
"Russia's imports of agricultural products and food items make up $67 billion where Iran's share is 22 percent. Other countries have easily entered the Russian market but we were not successful due to sanctions and domestic issues such as banking problems," Taban noted.
He went on to express those banking problems cause heavy costs for Iranian businessmen, and on the other hand, there is the issue of returning export's foreign currency revenue. The conditions should be facilitated to return export's revenue and until this problem is not solved, one can not expect a considerable increase in export unless there are domestic trade regulations are being reviewed.
